Who
we are
Grandparents
for Social Action
is a
movement of grandparents and active seniors learning and sharing their
roots in social action with their grandchildren. Founded by Executive
Director
Sharon Morton, a retired religious educator with decades of experience
in
social action training, Grandparents
for Social Action began in the Chicago suburbs and has
since grown nationwide.
GSA
is a
driving force in the growth of our grandchildren’s social identities,
and we
are a positive influence carrying on generations-old traditions on to
our
newest generation.
With
readership and participation in the hundreds and rapidly growing, we
hope to be
a meaningful resource for
finding innovative ways to make the world a better place
to grandparents across the United
States .
What
we do
Grandparents for Social Action
develops
speaking engagements and social action workshops around the US for
grandparents
and grandchildren to bond and learn together.
GSA
also features social action trips, both close to home and
long-distance, to build memories
while
developing hands-on learning and service for grandchildren and
grandparents
alike.
GSA
showcases interesting and current opportunities for social action in
the world around us.
We
explore
new, fun, and innovative ways to help with the ever-ongoing mitzvah of Tikkun Olam—healing the world.
Our
Community
We
are Grandparents for
Social Action. We
are
grandparents, mentors, activists, citizens, and friends.
We
have
participants from all over the country,
united by common values of
kindness, justice, and a desire to heal the world.
We
are
energized by our responsibilities and privileges rooted in our
heritage to make social action and carry on traditions from generation
to
generation.
Our
Mission
Educating
and engaging seniors to do social action;
Empowering
grandchildren to make the world a better place;
And
creating a legacy from one generation to another.
